Amer Hamid was born and raised in Illinois. He went to college at Purdue in Indiana, where he studied science and engineering. After graduating, he worked as a designer in the Pacific Northwest. After work, he studied classical Arabic traditionally for a number of years in Jordan, where he eventually taught it as well as English. He is currently a graduate student in History (with a focus in English Literature) at California State, Fullerton.
